Member of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina Denis Bećirović held a meeting with the Federal Minister for Europe, Integration and Family of the Republic of Austria Claudia Plakolm, during which information was exchanged on current priorities and on the possibilities of further strengthening relations between Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Republic of Austria.

Bećirović thanked the Republic of Austria for the overall assistance and support it has provided to Bosnia and Herzegovina so far on a bilateral and multilateral level.

He stressed that Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Republic of Austria are extremely close and friendly countries, between which there are no open issues, and that the relations between the two countries are based on mutual respect, trust and continuous dialogue.

He particularly thanked the Republic of Austria for its principled and consistent commitment to preserving the constitutional order of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

He stressed that the Republic of Austria clearly condemns anti-Dayton activities and activities directed against the independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Bećirović stressed the importance of dynamizing the Euro-Atlantic and European integration process of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

“On the economic front, the Republic of Austria is one of the largest and most important trade partners and foreign investors in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Republic of Austria have very developed trade relations, and numerous Austrian investors contribute to the creation of new jobs and the strengthening of economic growth in BiH,” said Bećirović.

Minister Plakolm emphasized the strong support of the Republic of Austria to Bosnia and Herzegovina on its European path, adding that the Republic of Austria is a reliable partner that firmly supports the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

She expressed her readiness to further strengthen cooperation, especially in the areas of youth, education and cultural exchanges.

Minister Plakolm emphasized that the Republic of Austria will continue to actively support the reform processes in Bosnia and Herzegovina and provide assistance to development programs and bilateral projects.

The interlocutors noted that the Bosnian-Herzegovinian community in the Republic of Austria represents an important link between the two countries. It was emphasized that this is a community that is excellently integrated into Austrian society and that contributes to strengthening economic, educational and cultural ties between the two countries – it was announced from the office of BiH Presidency member Denis Bećirović.
