Prime Minister of Zenica-Doboj Canton Miralem Galijasevic and Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Water Management Himzo Smajic visited the meat industry “Madi” from Tesanj, the largest domestic producer of chicken and one of the most promising ones in Southeast Europe.

They will start the export to the EU in a year in which they produced 14 million chickens, which is a record for “Madi” as well as for BiH.

“We are ready and waiting for the beginning of export, which will benefit both “Madi” and subcontractors, and exports will bring a great benefit to the economy of BiH as well. This means new employment, infrastructure and new capacities with which we will definitely be one of the recognizing factors in the territory of the former Yugoslavia,” said Edin Jabandzic, executive director of MI “Madi” Tesanj.

MI “Madi” invested 20 million in facilities and farms over the past three years. This company employs around 600 workers and at least 600 in the network of subcontractors. They export their products to CEFTA countries for years, and Croatia and Slovenia are their new target markets of the EU.

The Government of Zenica-Doboj Canton is working on the improvement of conditions for increase of exports, and their latest measure is the increase of number of veterinaries in the relevant inspection that will be support for exports in the EU.

“Thanks to giants like Madi, Zenica-Doboj Canton is the leader in the production of chicken meat in BiH and that makes us one of the strongest cantons in BiH. We will do everything necessary in order to improve production in other sectors when it comes to Tesanj as well,” said Prime Minister Galijasevic.
