BiH FM: I understand Croatia’s Interest, but BiH Issues will be decided in BiH Institutions

The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina(BiH), Elmedin Konakovic, said yesterday that issues related to BiH will be decided in the institutions of BiH.

He also said that it is clear to him that the Croats are interested in the Croatian people in BiH.

“It is natural, as Serbia is also interested in the Serbs in BiH, but there is a completely clear border. Questions about BiH will be decided in the institutions of BiH, Bosniaks, Serbs, Croats in BiH and all citizens who do not belong to ethnic groups,” Konakovic said.

He commented on his recent visit to Croatia, saying that the meeting with the president of that country, Zoran Milanovic, was “courteous and correct”.

“It is true that he spoke more than I spoke, but he spoke very correctly. He reminded us of some things that were important to us, how he was the first to speak about BiH’s candidate status at one of the NATO sections,” said Konakovic.

The meeting with Plenkovic, adds Konakovic, was a little more specific.

“Actually, he emphasized the importance of reforms this year, because the next year there will election for the European Parliament. Very specific meetings,” concluded Konakovic, reports HRT.

To recall, in February, at the press conference after the meeting with Croatian Foreign Minister Gordan Grlic Radman, Konakovic said:

“Today we did not discuss the details of the mentioned topics. We timed it to come up with some concrete solutions by the sixth month at this joint session. Some of the more complex ones will not be ready until then. The coalition agreement that we signed together states a deadline of six months from formation of all levels of government at all levels. Which means that we will have six months from the appointment of the federal government to enter into negotiations regarding amendments to the Election Law and partial amendments to the Constitution.”
