Last year, Bosnia and Herzegovina imported sunflower oil worth 39,365,312 marks and exported 538,855 marks, is confirmed to Fena news agency from the Federal Ministry of Agriculture, Water Management and Forestry.

Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina has no oil producers

The Ministry reminds that there are no oil producers in FBiH, while at the state level there is only one producer, ie “Bimal” Brcko.

Speaking about the shortage and increase in prices, they pointed out that this could be affected by global price disturbances and the lack of certain raw materials and products on the world market, and if Bosnia and Herzegovina depends more on their imports.

They added that the shortage and increase in part, and for a shorter period, may be affected by the accumulation of product stocks.

FBiH Price Monitoring Council appointed

When it comes to uncontrolled price growth, the Ministry emphasizes that the FBiH Government at the Federal Ministry of Trade has appointed a Council for Monitoring Prices in the Federation of BiH, which consists of several institutions and organizations.

“The Council’s competence is, among other things, to monitor price growth in order to assess the need to prescribe direct price control measures, the impact of prices on citizens’ standards, analyze price developments, give opinions on economic policy measures and propose direct price control measures if the consumer price index is higher of 5 percent, all in accordance with the Law on Price Control in the Federation of BiH and their bylaws,” concluded the Ministry of Agriculture, Water Management and Forestry of FBiH.
