According to the data from the Agency for Statistics of BiH, BiH was visited by 1.029 million tourists last year, which is by 21.5 percent more in comparison with 2014.
In 2015, tourists have made 2.143.118 overnight stays, which is by 25.2 percent more compared with the previous year. The number of overnight stays of domestic tourists increased by 15 percent and of foreign tourists by 31 percent.
In the total number of overnight stays, the share of domestic tourists is 33.5 percent and of foreign tourists 66.5 percent. Regarding the length of stay of foreign tourists in BiH, Malta is on the first place with average length of stay of 5.7 nights, then the South African Republic with 4.2 nights, Kuwait with 3.3 nights, France with 3.1 nights and Estonia with three nights.
In the structure of overnight stays of foreign tourists, tourists from Croatia have the largest share with 13.2 percent, then from Serbia 9.7 percent, Italy 8.6 percent, Turkey 8.5 percent, Slovenia six percent, Poland five percent, and Germany 3.7 percent, while tourists from other countries have a share of 45.3 percent. In December last year, BiH was visited by 62.130 tourists, which is by 1.7 percent more than during the previous month and over 10.5 percent more in comparison with December 2014.
In December 2015, tourists have made 114.008 overnight stays, which is by 7.3 percent less than in November the same year and by 12.5 percent more in comparison with December 2014.
When it comes to the length of stay of foreign tourists in BiH, Lithuania is leading with average stay of 4.7 nights, followed by the South African Republic with 3.8 nights, Ukraine with 3.3 nights, and Kuwait and Brasil with 3.1 nights, respectively.
In the structure of overnight stays of foreign tourists in December last year, tourists from Croatia stayed the most nights making a share of 21.7 percent. Croatia is followed by Serbia with 16 percent, Slovenia with eight percent, Turkey with seven percent, Italy with 5.5 percent and Germany with 4.6 percent, while tourists from other countries make up the remaining 37.2 percent of overnight stays.
