Chairman Sulejman Tihić and members of the Friendship Group for Western Europe in the Parliamentary Assembly of BiH Asim Sarajlić and Mirsad Mešić today spoke with the Bundestag delegation comprising MPs Josip Juratović and Arnold Rainer and clerk of the Working Group on Security and Defense Policy of the Bundestag Axel Schneider.
“The priorities of our foreign policy are the EU and NATO, but we have a backlog in fulfilling necessary conditions for membership,” Chairman Tihić said, stressing that in BiH it is essential to implement constitutional reform to establish a functional system to disable various forms of blockade.
Tihić added: “It is clear that responsibility primarily lies with domestic politicians, but it is in the general interest for the OHR to remain in BiH.”
Mirsad Mešić said that the new parliamentary majority wants to reform the judiciary and public administration and create an environment for economic development in the country and for BiH’s accession to the EU.
Asim Sarajlić said that the main problem is the existing constitutional order.
“In our country, the situation will start to develop in a positive direction when a critical mass of people from all parties unite to agree on changes to the Constitution and then create the conditions for economic development,” Sarajlić said.
The Bundestag representatives expressed their willingness to continue to provide assistance to BiH especially turning attention to the necessity of implementing the Sejdić and Finci ruling.
According to Josip Juratović, the problem is not national interests.
“The problem is that the conditions are created for every citizen of BiH to feel equal and guarantee every individual the same rights,” he concluded.
