BiH Presidency Member: No Society should be exposed to Terror and Suffering

The member of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH), Denis Becirovic, spoke about the escalation of the conflict in the Middle East, saying that no society should be exposed to terror and suffering, peace is a priceless and universal value that everyone should cherish.

I follow the escalation of the conflict in the Middle East with deep concern and strongly condemn any type of violence, especially when innocent civilians are killed. I sincerely sympathize with the families of the victims. Every attack and every act of violence represents a violation of human rights and democratic values. Peace is a universal value that we all need to defend and cherish. We are in an era of global challenges, and only together, firmly committed to democratic values and to societies without violence and conflict, can we contribute to achieving sustainable peace in the world. No society should be exposed to terror and suffering. Peace is a priceless value and this is a reminder of how important it is to work on its preservation, not only in our immediate environment but also around the world,” Becirovic’s message states.

He emphasized that the foreign policy of BiH is based on peaceful cooperation, promotion of dialogue, openness, equality, and respect for the principles of constitutionality, sovereignty, territorial integrity, and the rule of law in all aspects of relations with international partners. BiH is committed to resolving all disputes peacefully while respecting the principles of international law.

“In this sense, I strongly condemn the use of force in resolving open issues. Any form of violence and terrorism by anyone is unacceptable for BiH. Our country will continue to build the position of an active, principled, and credible entity on the international level. Even before the escalation of the latest wave of violence, BiH called for the achievement of a just peace between Israel and Palestine. We are still convinced that this is the only long-term solution,” Becirovic added.

In the end, Becirovic emphasized that BiH, a member of the United Nations (UN), the Council of Europe, the OSCE, the Global Coalition against Daesh, and a country that is at the door of the European Union (EU) and NATO, actively works and participates in the fight against terrorism, in accordance with its capabilities.
