In 2024, the citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) will be connected to many international destinations through direct flights, which was not the case in previous years.
But who will profit the most this year? Experts speculate on Sarajevo, but Banja Luka is also breaking records.
With the establishment of a direct line between Air Serbia and Mostar Airport, in addition to the previously signed cooperation with the SkyAlps company, the story of the fourth hub is complete.
Starting from the second half of April, the city on the Neretva River will be connected to Belgrade, Zagreb, Munich, Bari, Verona, and Rome.
“We have six direct destinations, which is a record. There has never been more than three. If we now multiply each of the three, that is, where we can fly from all destinations, it’s over 100 destinations,” said Marko Djuzel, the director of Mostar Airport.
Expectations are high for the Herzegovina airport. Twice as many passengers are expected compared to the end of last year when more than 20.000 were recorded.
Sarajevo offers new destinations and numerous direct flights
The new flight from Sarajevo International Airport to Warsaw is significant. During the current winter flight schedule, which is in effect until the end of next month, passengers have access to 12 destinations, but all attention is focused on expanding routes during the summer season.
“The Ryanair company introduces six destinations, including Milan, Gothenburg, London, Memmingen, Brussels, and Thessaloniki. The company SunExpress introduces two direct lines to Antalya and Izmir, and Aegean Airlines introduces a direct line to Athens,” reminded Belma Curekovic from Sarajevo International Airport.
Depending on the airline, prices are created, so, for example, you can travel from Tuzla Airport for at least 75 euros. Regular flights operate to Germany, Denmark, Sweden, and the Netherlands.
“When it comes to Germany, you can fly to Memmingen, Dortmund; when it comes to the Netherlands, it’s Maastricht; Sweden, it’s Halmstad and Stockholm. From today, check-out for winter flights should start, and Istanbul should be available for the first time from Tuzla,” emphasized Dzevad Halilcevic, the director of Tuzla Airport.
To the same destinations, alongside Belgrade, Basel, Vienna, Stockholm, and Gothenburg, one can also travel from Banja Luka, while from the summer season, the tourist offer will be enriched with lines to Brussels, Karlsruhe, Egypt, Greece, Turkey, and Tunisia.
Of the four BiH airports, Sarajevo is expected to achieve the best results this year, according to expert predictions, approaching nearly two million passengers, Forbes writes.
