After more than four decades, the reconstruction project of the multi-confessional commemorative building at the Humci city cemetery, which was started back in the days of the former Yugoslavia, could finally be completed. The City Council of Bihać approved the continuation of the works, and JKP “Komrad” d.o.o. Bihać is authorized to complete the reconstruction of the building, on behalf of the former investor – the pre-war Institute for City Construction.
The decision of the City Council represents the first concrete step towards the revitalization of this valuable architectural work, which was designed by Bihać architect Emir Eminagić. Although the construction started in the eighties of the last century, the works were interrupted due to the war events in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
From PUK “Komrad” they announce that, after obtaining consent, they will start creating project documentation, obtaining the necessary approvals for construction, as well as securing financial resources for the completion of the facility. It is planned to finish the building in accordance with modern needs, while preserving its original multi-confessional purpose.
In addition, PUK “Komrad” is already working on the preparation of documentation for the expansion of the cemetery and the additional arrangement of the Humci cemetery. The goal of this project is to give the space a functional and modern arrangement, with the intention of becoming a dignified place of common memory and respect for all the citizens of Bihać.
The City Administration of Bihać says that after the completion of the preparatory procedures, concrete sources of funding will be defined for the complete revitalization of the commemorative building on Humci.
