All major macroeconomic indicators in the Bosnia Podrinja Canton (BPK) are in constant growth’’, writes “Dnevni Avaz”.
There is an increase in the export of goods and services, import-export coverage, number of employees and, in a somewhat milder percentage, average wages, particularly in the manufacturing industry, and the number of unemployed has stopped.
These are all key indicators from the analysis of the situation of the BPK economy for the first three months of this year.
According to the President Dževad Terović, in this period the value of imports in BPK were 21.526.000 KM, while realized total exports were 29.627.000 KM or 12.2 percent more than in the same period last year. This is the rate of coverage of imports by exports and it reached 137 percent and is one of the highest in the country.
“The export performance does not include the exports of the company “Prevent”, which is registered outside of the BPK with its foreign trade business through specialized business enterprise. When the export of this company is added to all other, then we can conclude that the economy of our canton has achieved the best results of growth in the FBiH and at the level of the country’’, said Terović.
In the first quarter of 2013, the index of industrial production increased by 3,8 percent, the number of employees was 6.133 or for 97 percent more than in relation to the last period of last year.
At the same time, the number of unemployed remained the same at 3.637 for the demobilization of a number of members of the BiH Armed Forces. The average salary in January amounted to 749 KM, and in the manufacturing industry, which employs the largest amount of workers reached five percent.
Notwithstanding the excellent results that were achieved in the economy, due to the current mode of the distribution of public revenues in the FBiH, the BPK continues to fight for financial survival. Specifically, revenues in the budget are still insufficient for the functioning of the system, because the FBiH calculates by the form that were not important results of exports for the Canton, number of inhabitants, and the number of students in primary and secondary schools.
