President of the Central Election Commission of Bosnia and Herzegovina (CEC BiH), Irena Hadžiabdić, said that 34.98 percent of voters had voted in the local elections held today in BiH by 3 p.m.
“The turnout until 3 p.m. in the elections in Bosnia and Herzegovina is 34.98 percent, and compared to the 2022 elections, when the turnout was 35 percent, I think the turnout is on par with the previous election cycle,” Hadžiabdić said at the press conference.
She expressed her gratitude to the police and security agencies that, as she said, monitor the work of the CEC.
“They send us information regularly, and based on their information, we have information about violations of public order and peace in several constituencies and we have information about suspicions of certain criminal acts. Here I am talking about the problems that happened during the day – one case each in Bratunac, where we have suspicions of vote buying, in Teslić, suspicions of voting for another, in Kozarska Dubica, destruction of election documents, in Zvornik, threats at the polling station and in Derventa, there was also destruction of election documents,” Hadžiabdić said.
As for the other events, according to the CEC, this is quite a normal election day.
“Admittedly, we have violations and violations of the electoral silence. Up to this moment, we have received 142 reports. And as for the injuries at the polling stations, which I already mentioned earlier, we have 39 reports. There were also brief interruptions at some polling stations, after which the process continued. Mostly the process was interrupted either because of verbal or physical attacks, problems with observers, in some places it is more crowded. And as for our pilot projects, our election technologies that we apply in these elections are still successfully tested,” she said Hadžiabdic.
Local elections are being held in Bosnia and Herzegovina today, except in the basic constituencies of Jablanica, Konjic, Kiseljak, Kreševo and Fojnica, because the Central Election Commission of Bosnia and Herzegovina has postponed the holding of elections in those constituencies due to the situation caused by bad weather.
