Yesterday, the Archbishop of Vrhbosna, Cardinal Vinko Puljic, led a prayer march for Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) to Bobovac, organized to encourage Catholics to work for peace and harmony.

The Mass in Bobovac near Vares, as part of the traditional day of prayer for BiH, is mostly attended by Catholics who are members of the Armed Forces (AF) as well as the BiH Ministry of Defense and police agencies.

”Archbishop Coadjutor of Vrhbosna Tomo Vuksic mentioned in a sermon that the believers gathered there again with the same noble intention to persevere in good and harmony, ” reports the Hina agency.

Preservation of human lives

He added that Catholics, through everything they do, should resolutely stand for the good of all those who live in BiH, for the true equality of its peoples and harmony among them, and the progress of every kind in the country.

Also, he pointed out that due to the current situation, they are especially called to contribute to the preservation of human lives and social peace, alluding to responsible behavior during the coronavirus pandemic, but also while the country is burdened by a severe political crisis.

Respect every person

”Peace is not just the absence of war and cannot be reduced to maintaining a balance between opposing forces, ” stressed Archbishop Vuksic, adding that every person and every nation must be respected because peace is the fruit of justice.

The Bobovac prayer march was initiated two decades ago by Cardinal Puljic in memory of the day of the death of Bosnian Queen Katarina Kosaca on October 25th, 1478, with the aim of uniting in prayer for personal needs, for the people and BiH, but also all people and nations who live here.

Katarina Kosaca Kotromanic was the wife of the penultimate Bosnian king Stjepan Tomas, and his heir to the throne and also the last Bosnian king Stjepan Tomasevic proclaimed her queen mother, and with that title she experienced the fall of medieval Bosnia under Turkish occupation in 1463.
