Chairman of BiH Presidency: HR Schmidt is doing everything to strengthen the Position of Zagreb

Chairman of the BiH Presidency Željko Komšić told BHRT that since the beginning of his mandate, the high representative in BiH, Christian Schmidt, is doing everything to strengthen the position of Zagreb in BiH, and that his behavior and decisions are only complicating things in BiH.

“Schmidt goes where he shouldn’t. In Zagreb, he has been doing what he has been doing since the beginning of his mandate, he prefers the position of Zagreb in BiH, that is clear to everyone. He is doing everything to strengthen the position of Zagreb and the influence of Zagreb in BiH… I do not dispute his legality and legitimacy, but he is doing stupid things, complicating things in Bosnia and Herzegovina, making them more difficult than they were before his arrival,” Komšić said in Jutru za sve.

He added that during his visit to Granada, he also told Croatian Prime Minister Plenković that Croatia openly interferes in the internal affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina, as well as that it denies the judgments of the European Court of Human Rights, and that this is the reason why he, although, as he says, not personally , and compared to Putin.

“I told him that I personally did not compare him to Putin, but what they are doing, that is, interfering in the internal affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina,” said Komšić.

Komšić also looked back on his speech in New York and pointed out that there he presented only facts and no views.

“The fact that someone didn’t like hearing the truth is not our problem,” emphasized Komšić.

Komšić also commented on the current conflict in the Middle East and said that everything that is happening there can be summarized as “desperate people taking desperate measures”.

“Nobody can condone violence against civilians, it is reprehensible. Innocent people cannot suffer because of politics. The fact is that the struggle of the Palestinian people for a state has been going on for decades, no solution has been reached. I am afraid that what is happening there is only the beginning of a major conflict in which, unfortunately, civilians will be the greatest damage on both sides. The number of dead is already measured in the hundreds. Israel will respond harshly and the people of Gaza will pay the highest price. The Israeli army has also raised combat readiness in the north and expects the involvement of Hezbollah. The whole region can be ignited,” said Komšić.

He said that this situation in Bosnia and Herzegovina is also being used for internal political calculations.

“The views expressed are careless and hasty. In this moment and situation, it is also careless that Kristo sided with Israel, and I can say selfish because she does not observe the suffering of the Palestinian people. But that is clearly her policy, the position of her party.” emphasizes Komšić.

When it comes to potential conflicts in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Komšić rules out any possibility of that.

“Here, no one has the capacity for war, but the situation is also different. There is no such force as the JNA from whose warehouses and support the war was waged. Both Serbia and Croatia are at odds, with Croatia being in NATO as well as in the EU, and in Everyone in Serbia knows that any conflict would be fatal for them,” Komšić emphasizes.

According to Komšić, there is no reason to appeal the verdict in the Kovačević case before the European Court of Human Rights.

“When you read the verdict, you will see that you have nothing to complain about,” said the chairman of the Presidency.
