The chairman of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) met with the ninth archbishop Josip Cupic in Chicago.

Cardinal Cupic informed Covic of the work of the Catholic Church in the USA, especially regarding its archdiocese, which is the third largest.

Covic informed cardinal Cupic about the current political situation in BiH, as well as the existing Croat question. He emphasized that, guided by Christian values, Croats are trying to establish a dialogue in BiH with representatives of the other two people, which will result in solving all the faults of BiH that make it an unfair country. In that light, it’s necessary to amend the election law so that Croats would be equal to the other two peoples. At the end of the meeting, Covic expressed thanks to the cardinal for the offered assistance.

Covic also visited the Croat Franciscan custody of the Holy Family, where he met with priests and nuns. Fra Jozo Grbes, the custodian, informed Covic of its work. He emphasized that currently, they work in several cantons in America and Canada.

The brothers are also working in other forms of apostolates, which the most significant is writing and publishing books and magazines for those speaking Croat on the American continent. The other apostles are: chapel service in hospitals, teaching, and missionary activity. The Croatian Franciscan Custody of the Holy Family in Chicago is part of the Herzegovina Franciscan Province.

The delegation, led by Covic, visited the Croat Ethnic Institute, which is a Croat diasporic institution. It was founded in 1975 by Franciscans and incorporated in 1977 as an academic institution in order to organize a central list about Croats and their descendants in the US and Canada.

At the end, Covic met with representatives of Croat community in Chicago, it was announced from the Public Relations Sector of the Presidency of BiH.
