erasmusFrom September to November 2013, based on the call of the European Commission for B&H to partially participate in the EU Program called Erasmus(+) in 2014, the Ministry of Civil Affairs, in accordance with its coordinating role in the field of education in B&H, carried out the necessary consultations with the relevant educational institutions in B&H, with the goal to obtain positive reviews for partial participation of the country in this EU program for 2014.

With regard to the status of B&H as a potential candidate country for EU members, as well as the specific internal organization in terms of competence in the field of education, the EU offered B&H partial participation in the first phase of joining Erasmus(+) in 2014, where all the activities would be conducted by the Executive Audio-Visual Activities, Education and Culture (EACEA) Agency, announced the B&H Ministry of Civil Affairs.

The total budget of the Erasmus(+) program is 14,7 billion Euros for all member states of the program, which means that these funds were not in the full amount intended for B&H. On the contrary, B&H has to pay an entry fee in the amount of 115.000 Euros every year, and the amount of funds that will be available and allocated to B&H depends on the projects that are approved by EACEA.

After the B&H Ministry of Civil Affairs managed to obtain the approval of all the relevant ministries of education in B&H in the process of consultation, a conclusion was brought forward that gave consent for the participation of B&H in the Erasmus(+) program, of which the European Commission has been informed. We expect that the European Commission would offer as soon as possible the signing of a Memorandum, which would complete the procedure of B&H’s partial participation in the Erasmus(+) program, said in a statement of the B&H Ministry of Civil Affairs.
