Cudic asked Escobar: Is there an Attempt to build a new Berlin Wall on the entity Border in BiH?

At a meeting with the United States (U.S.) President’s Special Envoy for the Western Balkans, Gabriel Escobar in the Parliament of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina (FBiH), Sabina Cudic, president of the Our Party (Nasa stranka) Caucus, also addressed, criticizing changes to the Election Law proposed by national parties.

She said a proposal favored by the international community would bring ethnically clean parts.

“A proposal for electoral reform favored by the international community and, unfortunately, the U.S., would create artificial, ethnically pure, voting districts. This kind of racial redrawing of constituencies in the U.S. today, under Mr. Biden’s administration, would be seen, which is normally, as oppressive. It would be hypocritical, therefore, to export such a practice to BiH, “ Cudic stated.

Further, she noted that the only proposal for constitutional changes, which also concern the election law, and which is in the parliamentary procedure, was actually proposed by Our Party.

“Our Party’s proposal, which is on the table and has already entered the parliamentary procedure, ensures the protection of our diversity by enabling a balance of collective and individual rights,” she said.

Cudic warned Escobar of the growing foreign influence in BiH and asked him:

“I can’t help but ask, is there an attempt to build a new Berlin Wall on the entity border within BiH?” told Cudic.

Also, she called on him not to help those forces that led to this situation in the country, either by doing or not doing anything.

“With due respect to the people you have been negotiating with and still negotiating with in BiH for a quarter of a century – they cannot and will not bring about change. This is partly because they would not know how to even want to, but mostly because of their personal interests, their dependence on power and autocratic control are in direct opposition to the interests of the state. For them, it is not an ideological, constitutional, or even political issue. If it is – then the territories they rule exclusively in different parts of BiH would be successful,” Cudic pointed out.

Finally, she noted that the U.S. can have credible and progressive partners in BiH.
