Denis Zvizdic: “BiH to get the Candidate Status for the EU by the End of The Year”

zvizdic2With the commitment not to go into unconstitutional activity – blocking work of state institutions, the Alliance for Change, led by the largest party within it – the SDS, is unexpected, but certainly a bold and politically wise decision.

The message of the Alliance for Changes that they will continue to work for the benefit of all citizens of BiH, and that they will in particular focus on its attention on the needs of the RS, but certainly the entire country, said Zvizdic, something that was generally approved in the entire BiH. But, added Zvizdic, it certainly caused anxiety with few individuals or a political party that is trying to block the work of state institutions and to achieve particular political interest and to send the message that BiH is not a functioning state.

He emphasized that he wants to convince the citizens of BiH that the Council of Ministers of BiH will continue to be very consistent, persistent and diligently continue to work on the projects that will be good and that will bring benefits for all citizens of BiH. If some tectonic political situation or disorder does not happen in BiH, Zvizdic states that he is optimistic, and he expects BiH to get the candidate status for the EU by the end of this year or early next year.

“My optimism is based on a few certain facts, and the first is that all institutions in BiH responded to the Questionnaire of the European Commission, in accordance with their responsibilities. All these institutions, therefore, cantonal, federal and state level, submitted their contributions to the Questionnaire into the single information system. The RS is not done yet, but I do not see any reason not to do it, except, of course, certain tactics or trying to increase the so-called visibility in the process, whose role no one disputes because basic principle of the Coordination Mechanisms of European integration is precisely the principle of respect for the constitutional jurisdiction,” said Zvizdic.

This phase, he said, is now completed and the institutions prepared their responses, and the Directorate for European Integration will bring answers through a unique information system. At the same time, announced Zvizdic, within the next few weeks will be formed the remaining bodies in accordance with the Coordination Mechanisms, of which the most important are working groups that will revise all the answers in a competent and professional manner and recycle them to create a single response on behalf of BiH.

“With this, we will talk in one voice to the EU. I think we will finish the job on time. We determined the deadlines, they were not determined by the EC. They just said to answer questions professionally, but we said that we will prepare answers by the first half of this year. It is likely that the translation process, which is very demanding, will last month or month and a half, “said Zvizdic.
