On October 27, 2026, the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Josip Brkić, met with Amy Carnie, Director of the Office for Western and Central Europe at the United States Department of State.

During the meeting, the participants discussed the current political situation in Bosnia and Herzegovina, with a particular focus on the implementation of the results of the general elections. They emphasized the importance of institutional stability, the functionality of institutions, and constructive political dialogue to ensure the implementation of election results and the continuation of reform processes.

The meeting also addressed the Southern Gas Interconnection project, its strategic importance for Bosnia and Herzegovina, and the need to continue activities toward its realization. It was noted that the Southern Gas Interconnection project represents an important step toward diversifying supply, strengthening energy independence and security, and achieving better integration into the European energy market.

Deputy Minister Brkić highlighted the significance of the United States as a key strategic partner for Bosnia and Herzegovina, as well as the importance of continued U.S. support for the sovereignty, territorial integrity, and stability of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and for its European and Euro-Atlantic path.

The meeting reaffirmed a mutual readiness to continue dialogue and cooperation, particularly regarding energy security, institutional stability, and the further strengthening of the partnership between Bosnia and Herzegovina and the United States.
