Does BiH have enough Electricity and Gas?

The dedicated industry in the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina (FBiH) was on the verge of shutting down, but today it is a branch that is growing and employs many people, said minister Nermin Djindic. However, there are many problems. The legal solutions are not adequate, and not much has been done to fix them. Energy independence is one of the pressing problems. This bothers a large number of citizens, especially those who use gas for heating. What if the gas runs out? Can electricity be a substitute, or will such polluted air be even more dangerous to health if citizens are forced to choose the option – use whatever they can as the fuel?

He singles out the dedicated industry as the bright spot in the Ministry.

”Where we achieved really great results. From one branch that was ready to be shut down, we turned it into a super profitable industry that employs a large number of people. Primarily the dedicated industry. Then we also achieved good results in the rest of the industry. We sent some companies into bankruptcy. We did one reorganization in the mining sector and the entire energy sector. In a socially sensitive way, we started the transition from coal to renewable energy sources. This process must continue and be completed in five years.”

Dzindic explains that the current turnover in the dedicated industry is close to 4 million BAM.

”We have almost more profit than the turnover in the previous composition of the Government. These are big differences in numbers. As for the number of employees, it has almost doubled.”

Moreover, he also claims that we have enough electricity and gas.

”It should be clear to all of us that we must not use this information and that tomorrow we all go to switch the heating system from gas to electricity, which would cause great damage to the entire power system. Gas as an energy source, whose price in FBiH is the best in the entire region, is still a cost-effective energy source and it is below the current cost of electricity for heating.”
