Dolac Malta in 1987: Those Were the Good Times..

Dolac Malta in 1987 radiosarajevo.baMalta, a neighborhood in Sarajevo, was named after the German word for ‘customs office’ (Maut-German, customs, customs office).

Namely, during the Austro-Hungarian rule, a facility where the quality of food products was controlled, used to be situated in this part of the city. The farmers from surrounding villages would bring their products to the city for selling, and they used to pay a specific type of a tax at this location.

Dolac is, otherwise, the people’s expression for a sinkhole.

A photo of one part of this Sarajevo neighborhood in the year 1987 was ceded to the radiosarajevo.ba web portal. In the picture, one can see the dealers located across the tram station at Dolac Malta, which leads downtown.
