Chairman of the Presidency of BiH Dragan Covic attended a ceremony of marking the Day of the Armed Forces of BiH in the base Bagram in Afghanistan.

The celebration of the Day of the Armed Forces of BiH was also attended, besides the Chairman, by the Commander of base Bagram, General Leopoldo Quintas, as well as a large number of soldiers from the countries that are participating in the mission “Decisive Support” and other guests.

Chairman Covic noted the importance of the Armed Forces of BiH, which although being formed by the three armies that were on the opposing sides in the last war, showed that coexistence in BiH is possible through their unity and professionalism.

He also noted that the Armed Forces of BiH grew up in modern armed forces during the past years, and they are now capable of operating beyond the borders of their own country, despite the fact that it used to be unimaginable.

“I believe that we have shown it with our active involvement in the peace mission “Decisive Support”, here in Afghanistan, which is considered to be one of the most difficult and demanding operations,” stated Chairman Covic.

He also added that another optimistic but not unavoidable goal is right ahead of us, i.e. the activation of the NATO Membership Action Plan (MAP).

At the end of the ceremony, the Chairman of Presidency of BiH, Dragan Covic, handed over the note of appreciation on behalf of the Presidency of BiH to the members of the Armed Forces of BiH for outstanding results and professionalism showed in the mission “Decisive Support” in IR Afghanistan, and wished them success in their further work.
