The Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina sentenced Duško Zorić to 15 years in prison for crimes against humanity in Zecovi near Prijedor.

Zorić was convicted of participating in the murder of five civilians in July 1992. The Trial Chamber determined that Zorić was certainly aware of the widespread and systematic attack on Zecovi, which was directed against the Bosniak civilian population.

He was acquitted of two counts of the indictment for crimes in Gradina.

Zorić’s detention was extended, while he was exempted from paying court costs.

The injured parties are referring to a civil lawsuit with a property-law claim.

Zorić’s trial began in 2015 in a case in which he was accused with Dušan Milunić and others, but the proceedings against him were separated at the end of 2022, after he was arrested in Germany for other crimes. After his extradition from Germany, his trial continued, while the proceedings against Milunić and others have in the meantime been concluded with final judgment.

An appeal against today’s verdict has been allowed to the Appellate Division of the Court of BiH, BIRN BiH reports.
