The Japanese government approved grant funds for the project “Project for Electrification in Preodac Village in Bosanska Grahova” for the amount 89.024 euros, and 89.278 euros for the “Project to Improve Conditions in Vareš Health Center”. The ceremony of the signing of the agreement on the allocation of funds will be held tomorrow at the Embassy of Japan in Sarajevo.

Municipality Bosanska Grahovo suffered great destruction during the conflict in the 1990’s, when nearly all the infrastructure was destroyed.

The absence of an electricity system in Preodac village creates an obstacle for citizens to live a normal life, as well as for the return of formerly displaced persons in this village, announced the Embassy of Japan in BiH as a reason for investing in this municipality.

The Ambassador of Japan to BiH Hideo Jamazaki and the Mayor of Bosansko Grahovo municipality Uroš Makić will sign the agreement on the allocation of funds.

The Vareš health center provides primary health care for about 10.000 residents in the municipality.

The current x-ray apparatus that is used by the health center is around 40 years old, and in this condition could lead to serious consequences for the health of patients and medical staff, explained the embassy.

In addition, one of the ambulances is in bad conditions and cannot be used for more remote locations, and because of this the Japanese Embassy has decided to allocate funds for the purpose of a multi-purpose x-ray apparatus and one ambulance.

The Ambassador of Japan and the Director of the Vareš health center Anto Jelić will sign the agreement on the allocation of funds.

The signing of the contract is scheduled for 12:00.
