The Embassy of Poland in Sarajevo is organizing an exhibition of posters from the time of the labor movement ‘Solidarity’. The exhibition will open on Thursday, 12 December, in the Museum of Literature in Sarajevo.
‘Solidarnost’ is one of the most important social and labor movements in European history, and one of the symbols of contemporary Poland.
‘Solidarnost’ is a Polish trade union that was found in Gdanjsk in September 1980, with Nobel Prize Winner Lech Wales at its head.
This was the first non-communist trade union, beyond the control of a party and government, and in the states of the Warsaw Pact. It was created as a broad anti-bureaucratic and anti-communist social movement of resistance to dictatorship. The Embassy of Poland in Sarajevo is organizing an exhibition of original posters from the period of ‘Solidarnost’ on occasion of the anniversary of the introduction of the so-called state of emergence on 13 December 1981.
The posters of ‘Solidarnost’, marked now with popular graphic presentations, with font Solidaryca, represent not only a historical witness but also cultural and artistic value.
The official opening of the exhibition is 12 December at 18:30 at the Museum of Literature and Performing Arts. The exhibition will last until 18 December, and entrance is free.
