Extended Session of the RS Government Underway

A three-hour extended thematic session of the RS Government on the political and economic situation was held in Banja Luka today, at which the conclusion was made that the RS is macroeconomically stable, that it is meeting its obligations, and that it must seek a way to better use its available internal resources.

In addition to the Prime Minister of the RS, Radovan Višković, and the ministers in the Government, the session was attended by the President of the RS, Milorad Dodik, the Chairperson of the Presidency of BiH, Željka Cvijanović, directors of public enterprises, agencies and institutions, mayors and heads of cities, and rectors of two public universities.

After the Prime Minister of the RS, Radovan Višković, read out the macroeconomic indicators, those present gave public support to the “leadership of the RS in the fight against political persecution”.

At this session, which was broadcast live by the public service Radio-Television of the RS, the President of the RS, Milorad Dodik, reiterated his position that the RS should find the possibility of entering into a military alliance with Serbia and Hungary.

“I believe that RS has that right,” added Dodik.

At this session, he requested that a state of emergency be declared in Prijedor due to the floods.

“I visited the people there and in some places it was worse than in 2014. A state of emergency must be declared to immediately start building embankments and water barriers, so as not to waste time on announcing tenders,” he stated and said that flooded households should be given 7,000-10,000 BAM each to repair flood damage.

The session did not discuss the latest sanctions imposed by Germany and Austria on the RS leadership, but the position was reiterated that “RS must persist in its intentions to preserve the Dayton position, which also implies the absence of unconstitutional institutions in BiH”.

At the end of his address, Dodik once again invited opposition representatives to talks.

“I invite them again to agree on a joint approach towards BiH. What they are doing now is against the interests of RS,” claims Dodik.
