chair for PopeSince the beginning of February, when it was announced that the head of the Roman Catholic Church, Pope Francis, will visit Sarajevo on 6th June, preparations for the organization of his arrival started. As tradition requires, each head of the Roman Catholic Church who have visited BiH until now, had a chair on which he sat.  Edin and Salem Hajderovac are making chair   on which Pope Francis will sit, for already seven days.

Edin Hajderovac will be remembered in the history as the first citizen of Zavidovici to make a chair for Pope Francis on the occasion of his visit to Sarajevo.

“Yes, this is the project of my life and I am excited about that. I am glad I am doing it and I couldn’t imagine that I got to make that chair. My father came up with this idea immediately after the statement in media that Pope Francis is coming to Sarajevo, so he suggested that we make that chair. Of course, we immediately contacted with the pastor in Zavidovici, Miro Beslic, who told us how that option should be in order to get access to that“, said Edin.

Since hosts are responsible for the visit of Pope Francis, Edin went to Sarajevo with his father Salem and pastor Beslic where he presented his project that has been accepted with minor amendments.

The chair on which Pope Francis will be sitting in Sarajevo will be made of high quality walnut wood, and soon will come to the small studio of family Hajderovac to the carving. Edin’s father, Salem Hajderovac, dedicated all his life to the woodcut, and all started with religious symbols that they make only on order.
