FBiH Minister Kaplan met with special UN Envoy Shaheed

kaplanFBiH Minister of Culture and Sports Salmir Kaplan met today in Sarajevo with Special UN Envoy of Culture Farida Shaheed, who is in her official visit to BiH in order to assess whether BiH respects all rights in the field of culture; the access to cultural heritage and enabling its citizens the participation in cultural life, reports Fena.

Shaheed and Kaplan talked about the state of culture in FBiH, protection of monuments, the work of the Institute for Protection of Monuments of FBiH and cooperation of FBiH Ministry with State Commission for Preservation of National Monuments.

Kaplan talked with Shaheed about the problems of his ministry and aforementioned institutes and she was particularly interested in the status of seven cultural institutions that have unresolved legal status and discussed possible solutions.

The report on the status of cultural rights of BiH will be presented to UN Council of Human Rights in 2014, said FBiH Ministry of Sports and Culture.
