This afternoon the first eminent guests of the SFF started to arrive to the B&H capital. Around 14:30 o’clock, the famous British director Mike Leigh and the Mexican actor Gael Garcia Bernal arrived at the Sarajevo Airport while earlier before them arrived the Berlinale director Dieter Kosslick.
The press teams were already there at the airport, but Bernal wasn’t in the mood to talk because, as he said, he was tired and lost his luggage.
The same thing happened to Leigh but he accepted to talk shortly. He said this is his fifth visit to the SFF since 2000 and that the atmosphere is magical every time.
It’s getting more and more fancy and sophisticated. I hope I will enjoy it this time too.” – said Leigh and added:
“This year I must visit the place where the assassination occurred. We usually take that kind of places for granted but this time it’s not the case because this place has a special meaning”. – said Leigh who won the honorable Heart of Sarajevo in 2006.
Bernal is, on the other side, this year’s winner of that award. He will great this evening the audience in the HT Eronet Open Air Cinema where the Open Air gala screening of the film “Dog’s love” will take place and open the program.
It is a film from the year 2000 and Bernal has the leading role.
Bernal is one of the biggest celebrities of the seventh art coming from Latin America. He became famous acting in the Almodovar’s “Bad education”, Lokteva’s “The loneliest planet” and Cuaron’s “Y tu mama tambien”.
Mike Leigh is also well known for the Sarajevo audience, and this year this many times awarded director and screen writer will present the film “Mister Turner”.
The film will be shown as a part of the Special screenings program. “Mister Turner” is about the last part of a great but also extravagant British painter J.M.W. Turner’s life (1775-1851).
