Melania TrumpMelania Trump, wife of the newly elected US President Donald Trump, is the first woman from the Balkans that will move into the White House.

Melania Knavs was born in 1970 in a small Slovenian town of Sevnica. Parents of Melania Trump are living in America for a long time. Her father Viktor led the showrooms for the sale of cars and engines, and he was politically active as a member of the League of Communists. Her mother Amalia was born in the village Raka, and has worked at the factory “Jutranjka” as a designer of children’s clothing. Viktor has a son from his first marriage, and besides Melania, Knavs also have daughter Ines.

Melania left Sevnica when she went to high school. She started to conquer the fashion scene from Ljubljana. First Milan, then Paris, and later America. Stane Jerko, renowned Slovenian photographer, was the one who discovered her. He once said that he was fascinated by her beautiful, long blonde hair. He was a man who introduced Melania to the world of fashion.

Modeling career led her to the United States in 1996. She met her current husband Donald Trump at a party after the fashion week in New York in September 1998. Their relationship became public after Donald spoke openly about her as a guest in the radio show in 1999.

They got engaged in 2004 and married in January 2005. They have a son Barron William Trump, who was born in 2006. Donald has four children from previous two marriages.
