That tourist visits greatly depend on connectivity with global centers is confirmed by the investments of the Tourist Board of the Canton Sarajevo (CS) in air transport, which, according to their announcement, will be record-breaking this year and amount to 3.5 million BAM. In 2025, Sarajevo will operate flights to 39 global destinations, with passenger transport carried out by as many as 28 airlines.

Since most tourists visiting Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) come from European countries, the majority of flights will be directed towards Germany, Austria, Turkey, and Scandinavia, followed by Italy, France, Switzerland, as well as regional countries like Croatia and Serbia.

As announced by the CS Tourist Board, direct air routes from Sarajevo International Airport in 2025 will include destinations such as Kuwait, Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Manama, Jeddah, Riyadh, and Sharjah.

The co-financing program for air routes is being implemented in cooperation with Sarajevo International Airport, the Government of CS, and the Ministry of Economy of the CS.

It is worth recalling that in 2024, there was a monthly increase in the number of tourists visiting CS and BiH. According to the annual statistical report, the number of tourists in the capital of BiH increased by 22.3% compared to 2023, while the number of overnight stays increased by 18.3%. Additionally, the average length of stay in Sarajevo also increased, reaching 2.3 days on average, compared to 2.2 days for foreign tourists the previous year.
