milkFour more dairies from BiH obtained permission for exporting milk and dairy products to the countries of the EU, stated yesterday the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Economic Relations of BiH, Mirko Šarović.

Apart from the dairies Meggle, Milkos, Mlijekoprodukt and Dairy Farm Livno, dairies Eko sir Puđa from Livno, Euro Food Sarajevo, Poljorad Travnik and Milk Industry 99 Gradačac can also export to the EU.

Šarović stated that the preliminary report of the inspection from the Directorate of Health and Food audits and analysis (the former FVO mission), which has been staying in BiH since March 14 until 25 in order to determine to which extent the recommendations are being carried out, shows that BiH made a significant progress in comparison with 2014.

“This progress is a result of joint work of institutions across all levels, thus this is one joint success,” Šarović highlighted.

Regarding the legislation, three laws for this area have been prepared and are soon to be included in the agenda of the Council of Ministers. These laws have been prepared by all three ministries in the past three years and that they have passed the checks by the European Commission.

Ljubomir Kalaba, Director of the Veterinary Office of BiH, stated that this is a preliminary report and that the final report and recommendations should be finished in some 20 days.

After the report is received, an action plan for the removal of defined deficiencies must be made.

“What is very important is that we managed to stay on the list for the export of milk and that we have progressed,” Kalaba said. He added that a prime list of animals must be made, since that is one of the biggest problems. Funds for the preparation of this list amounting to 100.000 BAM have already been provided in the budget.
