Four Years ago, former Sarajevo Mayor passed away

Former mayor of Sarajevo, the Prime Minister of the FBiH and member of the Social Democratic Party of BiH, Alija Behmen, passed away at the age of 78, four years ago.

Behmen was born in Split in 1940. He was the Prime Minister of the FBiH in the period from March 2001 until the end of 2003. He was elected as a deputy in the Assembly of Canton Sarajevo and Deputy Chairman of the House of Peoples of the Parliament of the FBiH at the general elections in 1998, as a candidate for the SDP BiH.

He was elected as a deputy in the House of Representatives of the Parliament of the FBiH at the General Elections in 2006. When his mandate was over in January 2009, he became the Mayor of Sarajevo. He was the Mayor of the Capital City of BiH until 2013.
