Exactly one month has passed since the Trojka parties, together with SNSD and HDZ, formed the Council of Ministers. Although the representatives of the SDP, NiP and Our Party announced a turnaround in SNSD’s policy, it is clear that fundamental disagreements, both in internal and external policy, have not disappeared.
Disagreement about state property or the initiative to pass a state law on gas further added to the differences regarding the Ukrainian crisis, after Ambassador of Bosnia and Herzegovina(BiH) to the United Nations (UN) General Assembly Sven Alkalaj supported the resolution on Ukraine. President of Republika Srpska (RS) Milorad Dodik reacted harshly and accused BiH Foreign Minister Elmedin Konakovic of violating the Constitution.
“The instruction of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of BiH on the method of voting in the UN violated the Constitution, because such an instruction could not be issued by the minister without the decision of the Presidency of BiH. In BiH, there is no agreed position on the conflict in Ukraine, and for this reason, BiH was obliged to be restrained in the UN,” wrote Dodik.
Even on issues where the Trojka, on the one side, and the HDZ and SNSD, on the other, agree in principle, there are disagreements, and probably within the Trojka parties themselves, for example, the BiH Election Law.
Analyst Tanja Topic commented on this topic.
“It was also interesting to see the praise, optimism and faith that the old SNSD wolves changed overnight and that Dodik, the same one who for years was claimed to be the destroyer of the state of BiH, became a man of hope for change. At the same time, he did not even then move even a millimeter from his political course and radical rhetoric. The biggest problem was the approach adopted in the formation of the government – to push difficult and burdensome problems under the carpet, while at the same time spreading false optimism and taking pictures in the arms of new political partners,” said Topic.
When asked what was the real reason for the formation of the Council of Ministers, that is, the decision of the SNSD and HDZ to form a government with the Trojka parties, she emphasized the promise that they would get what they wanted.
“I would say that the situation in Ukraine influenced the accelerated gift of BiH in the form of the received candidate status. On the one hand, this kind of constellation in power is pressure from foreigners. On the other hand, it is a clear calculation by political actors to get what is important to them, and for the most part, they got it, at least in phase of the promises. SNSD was clear and explicit about it – they set conditions that they would insist on. The one who accepts them becomes a partner in the government, a very simple calculation,” noted Topic.
She believes that the Trojka parties are currently between a rock and a hard place after the last fierce noises in communication due to Russia, Klix.ba reports.
