As part of the celebration of European Heritage Day 2025, the Federal Ministry of Culture and Sports today organized a ceremonial welcome for the Bosnian and Herzegovina Paralympians, Ismail Zulfić and Ismail Barlov, who, along with Ališan Omerbašić, represented Bosnia and Herzegovina for the first time at the European Paralympic Games in Istanbul.

The BiH Paralympians won three medals in the absolute competition, while they won six medals in the junior category.

As the Minister of Culture and Sports of the Federation of BiH, Sanja Vlaisavljević, said today at the reception, “Ismail Barlov and Ismail Zulfić are not only top athletes – they are symbols of strength, perseverance and hope, while their dedication, fighting spirit and sporting successes inspire us all”.

“They are the pride of BiH, the region, the Balkans, Europe and the world, and when we think they have already shown us everything they can do, they surprise us again. This trio shows us what can be achieved with a lot of will and love,” said Minister Vlaisavljević.

She also conveyed a message from the Prime Minister of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Nermin Nikšić, who said that the entire country should be proud of these young athletes.

Zulfić and Barlov, as well as their coach Amel Kapa, were presented with gifts and gold plaques from the Ministry of Culture and Sports of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The event in front of the building of the Federal Ministry of Culture and Sports was accompanied by a rich cultural and artistic program.
