Green Light for the Construction of Six seated Ski Lift on Bjelasnica

Green Light for the Construction of Six seated Ski Lift on BjelasnicaSarajevo Canton Government approved today conceptual design of building a new vertical transportation – cable car on Bjelasnica, It means that government will endeavour to provide favourable loans of about 16 million BAM, and start its implementation.

On the route of the current cable car with three seats which was conceptualized by IPSA for the Winter Olympics ’84, a cable car with six seats would be created. It would significantly increase the capacity and speed of tourist as planned in the long-term development strategy of the ski center on Bjelasnica.

Construction of the six seated ski lift implies rehabilitation of vertical transport on Bjelasnica from Babin Dol to Medustanica, which is a distance of 600 meters. Lift capacity is 2500 persons per hour. With the planned speed the ride from the starting point to the exit point would last for about seven minutes.

As the project envisages, construction would be carried according to the latest technical and technological solutions that offer maximum safety to users and comply with all European environmental standards with aesthetic incorporation into environment.

The construction of new vertical transportation would improve winter – ski season offers, enable development of winter sports – recreation center to a level that meets the global competitive standards, and increase the importance of sports and tourist offers of the Canton of Sarajevo and Bosnia and Herzegovina as a whole, as well as for EYOF 2019, announced the Press Service of the Government of Canton Sarajevo.
