Halid Beslic, With His Greatness And Humanity, United The Region

With his greatness and humanity, he connected what seemed impossible to connect. He united the region, but also beyond. Many of those we spoke to believe that no one has ever been mourned like this. They say there have been many great singers, but kindness and simplicity are what especially marked the life of Halid Beslic.

Human greatness, kindness, simplicity, closeness, sincerity… That is how people describe Halid Beslic. The news of his death united the entire region. The Skenderija plateau was too small to hold all those who wanted to pay tribute to him with song…

Numerous institutions and public figures today pay tribute to him as an artist who was close to the people, but also as a man who found space for unity in music.

Halid Beslic was a regular guest of musical and New Year’s programs of the former Radio Television Sarajevo. His interpretations of sevdalinkas and folk ballads were often broadcast by the music editorial team, leaving a strong mark in the archive of today’s Radio and Television of Bosnia and Herzegovina (BHRT), with which he continued his excellent cooperation by participating in numerous humanitarian and musical projects.

“He loved this house; he always proudly emphasized how he helped build the music studio, he responded to every invitation, and he was a participant in all our projects. In 2020, his album Trebevic was released by the music production of BHRT. Simply – there is only one Halid,” said Enisa Hajdarevic-Sojko, music editor at BH Radio 1.

“Others also left beautiful songs behind; others were also great singers, but there wasn’t a reaction like this to the news of their death. So, with Halid, it’s something else. With Halid, I believe it’s about the fact that we have all become a little insensitive and that we have forgotten what it means to be good,” said Amir Misirlic, journalist and publicist.

It is pointless to talk about the greatness of Halid Beslic if in the future we all do not try to be like this great singer, says sociologist Vladimir Vasic. That explains the phenomenon and the fact that the death of a great artist has affected people in the region in this way.

“The phenomenon of Halid Beslic is drawn precisely from our mentality, from our people, and he reminded us of what we are like, what we used to be like, and what we should be like today. His mission in this world was to unite what was divided, to bring together what was separated, to connect a divided society, and he truly succeeded in that,” said sociologist Vladimir Vasic.

The humanitarian work and good deeds of Halid Beslic are hard to sum up, but one thing is certain – he succeeded in what he wanted: to be remembered as a good man, not just as a good singer, BHRT writes.
