Historic Moment in Mostar; Two Contracts Signed

MOstar townMayor of Mostar Ljubo Bešlić signed with contractors the construction contracts regarding the main sewage collector of the City of Mostar of total value of about 3 million BAM.

These are two contracts. One was signed with HP Investing Ltd., worth about 2 million BAM, under which a collector will be built from the end of the Boulevard to Šemovac (1800 meters), while the second contract is worth about a million BAM and was signed with the company Amitea, which will build a collector from the Franciscan street to street Fr. Didaka Buntica (1250 meters). The works will start in 2015 with a performance period of nine months.

Mostar Mayor called the construction of the collector a historic moment for Mostar, noting that the situation with the existing sewerage system is unsustainable because every higher rainfall creates problems for both citizens and the city water supply systems.

– Our wish is that the city of Mostar be environmentally friendly and to set an example for the other communities – said Bešlić, noting that the city is already building a wastewater treatment plant.

Speaking of the overall project of collection and treatment of wastewater, Emir Nuspahić, head of the department for construction of infrastructure facilities of the city of Mostar, said the City has no wastewater treatment plant, nor a central sewerage system, so that now all water and wastewater and stormwater flows into the Neretva and Radobolja rivers without any purification.

According to him, neither the sewerage network is fully built, which is why some parts of the city center still do not have a sewage system. Apropos, the value of construction of the main sewage collector in the City is estimated at 12 million Euros.
