A methodical demonstration exercise was held today at Sarajevo International Airport, which included a simulation of an armed attack, a hostage crisis, and the removal of abandoned luggage with a hidden explosive device.

The exercise was organized by the State Committee for Civil Aviation Safety of Bosnia and Herzegovina in accordance with international standards and recommended practices of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO).

In addition to members of the Committee, the exercise was also attended by members of the State Investigation and Protection Agency (SIPA), the BiH Border Police, EUFOR, and the Sarajevo Airport Service.

The exercise was held on the airport plateau and served as an important test of protocol and communication in high-risk crisis situations.

Joint coordination tested the capabilities and readiness of all involved agencies to respond in the event of a real threat at the airport.
