The geopolitical rivalry of major players on the international stage has intensified and the global risk of a military conflict between nuclear powers has increased, Russian Security Council Secretary Sergei Shoigu told TASS.

“Due to the increased conflict behavior and intensified geopolitical rivalry, the global risk of a military conflict between major players, including nuclear powers, has increased,” Shoigu said.

According to him, Western countries have launched an aggression directed against the ideology and values of Russia and Belarus, in an attempt not only to attack with economic sanctions, but also to destabilize the political situation in the two countries.

Shoigu stressed that such behavior by the West affects not only Russia and Belarus, but also the international situation in general.

“Such actions are directly aimed at weakening our countries, since the goal is to deprive us of sovereignty and the right to choose our own path of development and pursue strategic interests,” Shoigu added.
