Five countries created after the disintegration of the former Yugoslavia, including Bosnia and Herzegovina, agreed that the diplomatic-consular offices around the world whose distribution was not negotiated in the process of succession will be sold and the funds distributed among the countries.
There is around 50 buildings and apartments whose value is estimated to 110 million EUR in total. The largest share of the money, 40 percent, will go to Serbia, while BiH will get 15 percent from the total sum – around 16 million EUR.
The most valuable property is certainly the six-room apartment in Manhattan, New York, which covers 400 square meters. This apartment has been maintained by Serbia for more than two decades and the maintenance cost 15.000 EUR per month. In total, Serbia spent around two million EUR on the maintenance of this apartment.
The apartment value was estimated to 20 million USD. Several years ago the media reported that the famous Hollywood actor Jack Nicholson is interested in this former Yugoslavian residence.
