karicManagement of PE Highways FB&H led by Ensad Karic held a presentation of the 4-year work where they analyzed the projects on the construction of the highway 5C.

From PE Highways FB&H emphasized their satisfaction with the performed work on the construction of the Corridor 5C. 10 projects were realized and 102 kilometers of highway were opened for traffic. A total of 5,000 domestic employees and more than 90 local companies were engaged in the construction, and almost 35 % of Corridor 5C has been completed by now.

“Total profit of the PE Highways FB&H for the past 4 years amounts to 303 million BAM, and total investment amounted to 1.25 billion BAM,” said Ensad Karic.

Solution of the problem of tunnel Vijenac or tunnels 1. Mart were emphasized as special challenge during the construction of highway. After the bankruptcy of the company Primorje, local companies successfully completed this part of the project. Moreover, PE Highways FB&H collected penalties in the amount of 22 million BAM from the Slovenian companies.

The thing that is important and what PE Highways FB&H particularly noted is preparing a new investment cycle.

“We have ensured additional 600 million BAM for the continuation of construction of the highway, mostly from international financial institutions. For the section Pocitelj – Medjugorje we ensured 200 million BAM, for the section Zenica South – Zenica North 220 million BAM, then the section Drivusa – Klopce 60 million Bam and finally the section Pocitelj – Buna together with LOT 3 Zenica South – Zenica North, we ensured 120 million BAM,” said Karic.

However, the most important activity of this company is the optimization of the route Konjic – Mostar. With the new route, which should pass through the mountain Prenj and which would shorten the section for 14 kilometers, savings of around 300 million BAM would be achieved.

It should be also emphasized that the PE Highways FB&H provided scholarships for the most successful students, and besides the activities on the highway, this company was involved in the construction of 80 kilometers of local and regional roads and about 20 kilometers of the water supply networks.

Income from road tolls for this year amounts to almost 30 million BAM.

“If the excise duties on fuel would be increased, PE Highways FB&H will be able to invest an additional 500 million BAM”, says Karic, who is optimistic regarding the completion of the entire Corridor 5C, and according to him, the highway should be completed by 2022.
