Konakovic-Cascone: Good Relations between BiH and Italy

The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Elmedin Konaković, met today with the Director of the Office for the Adriatic Region and the Balkans of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the Republic of Italy, Andrea Cascone.

Director Andrea Cascone emphasized the good relations between the two countries and reiterated the support that Italy provides to Bosnia and Herzegovina in its efforts to progress on its way to the European Union. He emphasized Italy’s support for reform processes and the importance of institutional integration in Bosnia and Herzegovina, as this is a very important condition for progress towards a partnership relationship with the EU.

Minister Konaković spoke with Director Cascone about the changes in the conduct of internal and external policy in Bosnia and Herzegovina after the last elections and efforts to pave the way for concrete changes in the country and the region, with the desire to intensify the dialogue and contribute to the faster and better development of Bosnia and Herzegovina as a whole. He pointed out economic reforms as necessary and as one of the instruments that will be more clearly and visibly demonstrated and available positive changes to the citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina, which would lead to overall stabilization in the country. He also stated the need for more intensive infrastructure development, projects and development studies that would bring Bosnia and Herzegovina as a whole into line with EU standards.

Minister Konaković expressed his condolences and solidarity to the Republic of Italy for the dead and injured residents of the Emilia Romagna region, victims of heavy rains and floods, as well as his regret for the damage caused, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina announced.
