The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Elmedin Konaković, met today, on the sidelines of the 78th session of the United Nations General Assembly, with the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the United Arab Emirates, Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan. The focus of the conversation was on improving comprehensive bilateral and economic cooperation between BiH and the UAE, especially when it comes to attracting investors from the UAE to invest in BiH.

They assessed the bilateral cooperation between the two countries as extremely good, but also pointed out that good relations can be improved by intensifying cooperation in many areas, such as economy, energy, food industry, construction of infrastructure facilities, cultural exchange, education, tourism.

Both sides expressed readiness to intensify work on concluding interstate agreements in various areas for which negotiation and formal-legal procedures have been completed or are in the process of harmonization.

Minister Konaković welcomed the recent decision of the UAE to cancel visas for citizens of BiH, which was announced in April this year after the visit of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the UAE, Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, to Bosnia and Herzegovina.

He also expressed his satisfaction with the fact that the United Arab Emirates will soon open a consulate in Bosnia and Herzegovina, but also the hope that in the coming period the UAE will raise its diplomatic representation in Bosnia and Herzegovina to the level of an embassy, which will further strengthen the relations between the two countries.

During the conversation, Minister Konaković informed the interlocutor about the current political situation in our country and the reform processes on the way to the EU, it was announced from the Public Relations Office of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
