Yesterday, the Assembly of Kosovo approved the draft law on the agreement on Freedom of Movement with identity cards between the six countries of the Western Balkans, including Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH). 82 deputies voted in favor, while there were no votes against and no abstentions.

Prime Minister of Kosovo Albin Kurti thanked the deputies for voting.

With a two-thirds majority, the deputies approved three agreements reached at the end of last year in Berlin between the countries of the Western Balkans. Among them is the agreement on Freedom of Movement with identity cards between Kosovo and BiH.

The Assembly also approved the recognition of higher education qualifications in the Western Balkans as well as the recognition of professional qualifications of doctors, dentists, and architects in the context of the European Free Trade Agreement.

In order for the agreement to enter into force, the Parliament of BiH must also ratify this agreement.
