Kosovo Serbs blocked all Border Crossings with Serbia and Montenegro

The roads near the Merdare, Jarinje and Brnjak border crossings, between Serbia and Kosovo, were blocked on Friday afternoon, September 6. The organizers also blocked the road near the Kula crossing, which is located between Kosovo and Montenegro.

Several trucks were stopped and were not allowed to cross the border. According to the announcements of the organizers, trucks will not be allowed to pass, regardless of whether they have Serbian or Kosovo license plates.

Cars with Serbian license plates pass without any problems, while vehicles with Kosovo license plates stop. The organizers of the blockades check whether the passengers in these vehicles have Serbian documents.

These blockades occur after the Kosovo authorities closed five Serbian institutions in the north of Kosovo, an area where the majority of Serbs live, on August 30. The Kosovo authorities claim that these institutions operated under the control of Serbia, violating the constitution and laws of the Republic of Kosovo.

Among the demands of the blockade are the “liberation” of the municipalities in the north of Kosovo, the recognition of Serbian documents in Kosovo, the return of the dinar to use and the call for KFOR to assume its role in accordance with Resolution 1244.

Kosovo’s Minister of Internal Affairs, Dželjalj Svečlja, condemned these actions on his Facebook profile, calling them “absolutely unacceptable”, Klix.ba writes.
