The goal of this meeting is to discuss the challenges that are happening today without whining about how we got to this and to see how we can turn the fears we are facing into hopes that things can get better, said President of the Foundation ‘Shared Societies and Values’ Zlatko Lagumdžija at the Global Baku Forum, an annual international meeting held in the capital of Azerbaijan.
Lagumdžija said that this year the organizers decided to dedicate one of the panels to the Western Balkans in Europe, FENA reports from Baku.
“If Europe wants to compete with other major players in the world such as America, China, and even in some segments of Russia, it must be much stronger and more unique. Europe is the biggest peace project in the last few decades and is only as strong as it has spread its values and institutions. In order to gain credibility, it must know what is happening in its yard, and that is us,” said Lagumdžija for FENA.
He noted that the structure of the panel is such that the panelists are officials and decision-makers, such as the former presidents of Bulgaria, the Czech Republic and Croatia.
“I want to mention that the Global Baku Forum is now growing into a kind of Davos in the geopolitical sense, where we have a lot of conversations, but a lot also happens behind the scenes, agreements are signed, partnerships are negotiated and the like,” said Lagumdžija, Fena reports.
