Last year saw a record Increase of Indebtedness of BiH citizens

The total indebtedness of citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) in 2017 amounts to 8.61 billion KM (5,4 billion U.S. Dollars), an increase of 6.7 percent year-on-year, Central Bank of BiH said Monday.

Year 2017 saw a record in number of loans taken by citizens of BiH in local banks, amounting to increase of 537.4 million KM. According to the estimations, every BiH citizen is indebted for some 2,500 KM.

In the last five years, there was a slight constant increase of 3.7-6.7 percent loans taken annually. More precisely, in 2013 the indebtedness amounted to 7,06 billion KM, in 2014 7,43 billion KM, in 2015 7,78 billion KM, in 2017 8,08 billion KM and in 2017 8,61 billion KM.

Indebtedness of BiH citizens on the basis of credit cards in 2017 amounted to 197 million KM. (1 U.S. Dollar=1,59 KM)
