A meeting of representatives of the Coke Plant Union, Lukavac Mayor Edin Delić and Tuzla Canton Prime Minister Irfan Halilagić will be held in Lukavac on Wednesday. The topic of discussion will be the care of workers after the opening of bankruptcy proceedings at this factory.
The Lukavac Coke Plant, which employs almost eight hundred workers, has filed for bankruptcy due to debts exceeding half a billion marks. According to the union’s estimates, at least two hundred employees could lose their jobs.
The meeting will discuss possible models of assistance and support. It is expected that concrete conclusions and steps to be taken will be known after the meeting.
