What did Mesić and Komšić agree on?

13595620_1224390570945230_1778096030_nFormer president of Croatia Stjepan Mesić visited the Democratic Front (DF) in Sarajevo today, saying that he is here to support the European project that the DF is.

Mesić pointed out that the European path of BiH has no alternative and that the European expansion should not be halted after the exit of Great Britain from the EU.

Former president of Croatia says that the path to Europe is interesting to everyone and that EU must pay attention to peripheral areas as well.

“When it comes to BiH, the greatest task is before the political elites and that is the easiest thing to day and a difficult thing to achieve. International community must not derogate from its obligations. The Dayton Agreement stopped the war, with enormous number of victims, but a functioning state was not established. The political elites apparently cannot solve this by themselves, but the citizens want this to be solved. That is why the international community must be engaged. Because there are always some other hotbeds that the international community needs to solve, such as this issue with refugees,” Mesić added and explained that the area from where the refugees come must be taken care of, because when there was war in BiH 500.000 people came from BiH to Croatia and then returned to BiH when the war was over.

“However, I want to support the European project that my friend Komšić stands for,” Mesić said.

Željko Komšić, leader of DF, says that BiH does not have the luxury and cannot allow itself to play any kind of game when it comes to the path of BiH towards the EU.

“Encouragement is the attitude of the Chancellor Angela Merkel, especially because Germany offered to help the adaptation of the Stabilization and Association Agreement in the part where there is a problem, not in the part that is represented as a problem in BiH, because here they managed to tie the story about census to the EU path. Our condition is the adaptation of the SAA, and help of Germany in the sense that they will finance the areas that will suffer negative consequences is a concrete help and it should be eagerly accepted,” Komšić added.
