Former President of Republika Srpska Milorad Dodik has paid 36,500 BAM to the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina, which replaced his one-year prison sentence, imposed for disobeying the decisions of the High Representative, with a fine, Detektor confirmed.

On August 12, 2025, the Court issued a decision replacing the one-year prison sentence to which Milorad Dodik was sentenced with a fine.

“The representative of the convicted person, attorney Goran Bubić, submitted a submission to the Court with proof of payment of a fine in the amount of 36,500 BAM, referring to the decision of the Court of BiH, which replaced the one-year prison sentence imposed on convicted Milorad Dodik with a fine,” the Court of BiH stated.

In early August, Milorad Dodik was found guilty by a final verdict of having taken actions in Banja Luka from 1 to 9 July 2023, knowingly and with the knowledge that the High Representative Christian Schmidt had issued a decision preventing the entry into force of the Law on Non-Application of Decisions of the Constitutional Court of BiH from 1 July of the same year, as well as the decision preventing the entry into force of the Law on Amendments to the Law on the Publication of Laws and Other Regulations of the RS, with the aim of continuing the legislative procedure, without applying and not implementing the decisions of the High Representative.

He was sentenced to one year in prison and was given security measures prohibiting him from holding the office of President of the Republika Srpska for a period of six years.

Early elections for the President of the RS were called yesterday by the CEC, which had previously issued a decision to terminate Dodik’s mandate, and the elections are scheduled for 23 November, BIRN reported.
